Mom, Dad, and Christine joined me for Independence Day weekend near Kent, CT. Apparently things don't ever change: Mom cooks a delicious meal and dad watches on.

Lime Rock Park, a racing track in CT. When I was passing the track, there was a small race/trail of some type going on; and even though I was miles away, it was very loud.

Rand's View, CT, looking north. The Taconic Range is in the distance; Mt. Everett (2,608 feet), the highest peak on the range, is the last big peak.

Crossing the Mass Turnpike near Lee, MA. Many times I have gone under this bridge on my way to see Kerri or Joe in NY; but, at least not in the near future did I think I would be walking over it on my way to Maine.

A sign introduces drivers to the Berkshires.

The view of Cheshire, MA, from The Cobbles, a marble cliff located south of town. The VT-MA border is on the range north of town.

Apparently they do things a bit differently in Cheshire -- a girl riding her horse down the street in a residential neigborhood is something I would expect down south but not in New England.

This one of my favorite pictures from the trail because it sums up the whole trip. This stone, with a passage from Thoreau is located just south of Mount Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts at 3,491.
