NE Washington, Idaho, NW Montana

The Amoth Family children, who I met two years ago during my Sea-to-Sea hike and who have all gotten 2 years older since then, except for Number 5, who was born just a year ago.

The Amoth Family, one of the most generous and friendly families I have ever met while hiking.

More pick-up-sticks-like blowdowns just east of the Moyie River Valley.

One of the few nights that I actually set up my tarp, this time due to a thunderstorm that I could see from Canuck Pass but that never hit me.

Turner Falls

To celebrate reaching the halfway point of my hike, I took on the "Half Gallon Challenge," which I'm a veteran to, having done it on both my Appalachian Trail and Sea-to-Sea hikes. Sadly, the overwhelming fake banana flavoring of Chunky Monkey did me in, and I was unable to put down the final pint of Brownie Batter that evening. The next morning for breakfast I revisited the convenience store and grabbed the last pint of ice cream, a Cherry Garcia, and finished it up before leaving for the Ten Lakes Scenic Area.

Half Gallon Challenge Video. Yum, ice cream for breakfast!

With former GoLite promotions manager Ashley Wallace and her husband Jonathan, who met up with me during their cross-country travels prior to leaving for Thailand on missionary work.

The Whitefish Divide, a superb never-used ridgewalk with excellent views of Glacier National Park to the east, across the North Fork of the Flathead River.

The Polebridge Mercantile, 25 miles north of West Glacier, MT, on a dusty gravel road. The electricity lines stop here: residents who live in the upper valley are off the grid.
