Wyoming

You can see the pattern now: alpine lakes, big peaks and domes, and lots of scattered boulders and outcrops.

My favorite photo from the Winds, taken north (on the CDT) from Hat Pass.

Some of the bigger peaks in the Winds.

Because of the ranges high elevations and abundant snowfall, the Winds claim the highest concentration of alpine glaciers in the American Rockies. Sadly, if current climatic conditions continue, it's estimated that they will all be gone in 20 years, which will affect stream temperatures, water available for irrigating, and interstate water agreements.

Another favorite photo from the Winds, which are at the top of the list of places I would like to return to in the future.

You'd be smiling ear-to-ear too if your "office" was the Wind Rivers.

Soft evening light hits some of the peaks near Raid Lake.

Heading towards Shadow Lake, up Washakie Creek.

Barren Lake and Texas Lake from near Texas Pass, which is off the CDT but which is a much better route because it goes through...
...the amazing Cirque of Towers, a favorite among big-wall rock climbers.
