These beagles have been trained to sniff out and corner bears and mountain lions.


Water is hard to come by in the Tuscalora Mountains. This spring was the only water source for about 15 miles in either direction, and thankfully someone had the forethought to protect it with this cement box instead of letting the cattle get to it and muck it up.


A 2-track through rolling grasslands a few miles before the CDT drops down into the West Fork of the Gila River.


This section reminded me of my days in eastern Montana while walking near the Missouri River.
