The Pacific Crest Trail takes a horseshoe-shaped track around Mt. Shasta, which at 14,179 feet is the second tallest peak in the Cascades (behind Washington's Mt. Rainier) and the fifth tallest in California. The stratovolcano can be seen for 200 miles -- starting near California's Burney Falls State Park and ending at Crater Lake National Park in Oregon -- including from this vista near Siskiyou Pass, where Interstate 5 passes through the Siskiyou Range.
