Warren Lake
Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness, Montana

August 2007 was the height of one of Montana's worst wildfire seasons in state history, and for about 500 continuous miles along the Continental Divide Trail the air was thick with smoke and sometimes ash. The sun was rarely visible, despite there being no clouds in the sky, though sometimes in the morning or at night the smoke and low sun would combine to create some unique lighting situations, as occurred here.
